Ardbeg Supernova Stellar Release Single Malt Whisky
Ardbeg Distillery (Scottish Gaelic: Taigh-stail Àirde Beaga) is a distillery in Ardbeg on the south coast of the isle of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, in the Inner Hebrides group of islands.
The distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, and produces a heavily peated Islay whisky. The distillery uses malted barley sourced from the maltings in Port Ellen.
The Ardbeg distillery has been producing whisky since 1798 and began commercial production in 1815.
The Ardbeg Supernova has been a phenomenon since the Advance Committee Release back in January 2009. Ardbeg Supernova was the peatiest Ardbeg ever released at 100ppm.
Nose: Quite strong smoke followed by a delicate sweetness, some banana, citrus aromas, vanilla, cinnamon and a light sea breeze.
Taste: Strongly smoky, massive, cinnamon, a bit sweet and salty, again banana and vanilla, peppery tingling.
Finish: A lot of smoke, hardly any sweet, hardly any fruit. Very dry and tart.
