This is the 2019 version of the cask strength Lagavulin 12 Year Old, released annually as part of the Diageo Special Releases. The theme of this 2019 Release is ‘Rare by Nature’, symbolised by a bird of prey on the label.
This deep expression from Lagavulin’s smokiest reserves was matured in refill American oak casks for 12 years and it was bottled in 2019 at a natural cask strength.
Nose: Peaty sweet nose, with the strong powerful cold smoke, oak, toffee, fudge.
Taste: Sweetish soft attack, toffee, fudge, caramel, very strongly smoky, very powerful, earthy.
Finish: Long, smoky, somewhat sweet finish; very long smoky aftertaste.
