Springbank Longrow 21 Years Old Peated Limited 2023
Named after another lost distillery of Campbeltown (which once operated right next door to Springbank and whose warehouse now houses our bottling hall), Longrow was first produced in 1973 to provide a peaty, oily and robust component to a blend being created at the time. More heavily peated and double distilled, it has been a staple in the production calendar since the 1990s.
This is the 2023 Edition of the oldest whisky in the Longrow core range, the annually released 21 Year Old. It was matured in a combination of 60% Sherry casks, 30% bourbon casks, and 10% Chardonnay casks.
Nose: Delicate smoke, salt, caramel, vanilla. Sweet, light cream, dried fruits.
Taste: Maritime, traces of ash and smoke. Dried fruits, plums, raisins, dark chocolate. Citrus fruits in the background.
Finish: Long with peat, seaweed and spices.
