Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Batch WT-03RB Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Rare Breed is Wild Turkey’s small batch, barrel proof bourbon. The expression was introduced in 1991 and a new batch was originally released once or twice a year. Rare Breed is reportedly a blend of 6, 8, and 12 Year Old bourbon. This is Batch WT-03RB, bottled at a barrel proof of 108.2.
Nose: A mint leaf on a little piece of lemon, then the bourbon classics: vanilla and caramel. Oak wood underlines the nose wonderfully. Nuts and figs are very indistinct in the background.
Taste: Fantastic. The mint and the lemon dominate in the beginning and are then gradually replaced by caramel and oak spice.
Finish: Great finish. Long, spicy, vanilla and very pleasant warmth.
